TOB 545 Theology of Sexual Healing & Redemption (2 credits)
Class
About
The course will build on the foundations of John Paul II’s Theology of the Body to develop a Catholic theology and anthropology of sexual healing and redemption. Sexuality will be viewed in the context of creation, the fall, redemption, and restoration. We will examine our sexual wholeness in light of God’s creative design. We will look at the crucial role of worship in sexual wholeness, and the desecration that occurs to our sexuality as we engage in worship of false images. We will then develop an understanding of the Incarnation as the model of redemption, and the power of the Cross of Christ to heal our sexual and relational wounds in bringing about redemption. Finally we will examine the role of the Holy Spirit in restoring us to sexual wholeness and relational intimacy, through such means as the Sacraments, healing prayer, and restorative Christian community.
